Softcover

297 x 212 mm

A rare publication documenting the construction of the Weißenhofsiedlung, the 1927 German Werkbund expo that would give rise to a World Heritage sight of early Modern Movement architecture.

Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, Le Corbusier, Peter Behrens, Bruno Taut, Mart Stam and J.J.P Oud were all among the architects invited by project director Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe to create buildings for an entire estate of progressive buildings specially created in a hillside suburb of Stuttgart.

Roth had been assigned by Le Corbusier to monitor the construction site and had been authorised to record of the construction project for the Stuttgart publisher, Academic Verlag Dr. Fritz Wedekind & Co.

This wonderful resource boasts myraid photographs and plans of the houses built Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret for the expo. The cover and typography is a joy also, contributed by Willi Baumeister.

A fragile soft cover publication in good to very good condition, with some creasing and minor staining and other minor expected signs of use but no significant damages.
